_ Challenge

There are already many city guide applications that make recommendations. However, there are very few digital platforms that allow a city’s decision-makers to communicate with citizens, promoting participative democracy.

_ Approach & Solution

The implementation of an advanced interactive platform that correlates the citizens with different places based on their personality traits; process their data to improve citizens’ quality of life; supporting collective intelligence and assisting decision makers.

Colimo is:

  • A tool that recommends citizens (16-34) places in cities they match with according to their personalities.

  • An opportunity to participate and contribute in the decision making regarding their cities physical environments.

  • A tool that allows city administrators, policy makers & urban planners to understand citizens’ needs & demands better and respond effectively.

  • Assist decision makers in identifying areas of cities that are underused for later rehabilitation.

The application is much more than just a guidebook or a virtual agenda. Its participative approach aims to get people involved in city life by encouraging them to provide detailed feedback to the city’s administrators. For example, using augmented reality, users can geolocate and flag a faulty streetlamp, a missing garbage container or other incidents on the street in real time by placing an icon, taken from a 3D object library, at the exact location. Other users who activate their cameras and seeing the object on their journey route will be able to indicate their support of or disagreement it. Likewise, users can display their feelings (happy, sad, angry) using in-house emojis, or Colimojis.
